Your portfolio must contain the best work you have done; the pictures should be arranged in a very organized and professional way. Compile them as if you are telling a story through the images. If you are applying for a certain photographic job, try to come with a portfolio that features photographs that are relevant to the job description. If you want be hired to do landscape digital photography, then your portfolio must contains the best outdoors shot you’ve got. The images should deliver not just a clear view of a landscape but it must also present your deep passion to your craft. For a career in digital photography always remember that you need a very prominent website wherein you can place your digital portfolio.

 

If you are currently working but really want a career in digital photography, you still can do this by becoming a freelance photographer. Freelancers in digital photography usually concentrate on a certain field. Once you have chosen your specific area of expertise, be sure that you have all the sufficient knowledge and experience on the area. Freelancers also need a wide list of contacts; because you are freelancing, no one will do the job hunting for you but yourself. You need your own website that you have to promote; you also need to be able to juggle your time schedule as there is no one to assist you. Most professional photographers turn to freelancing after working for a company for a while. Once they have known all the loops in the photography business and have created a wide contact of clients, they are ready to embark on their own.

I am not trying to impart that it is easy to learn photography and earn money, but with enough perseverance and with the help of the little knowledge you have gained, add a few experience and you will be on your way to a profitable photography career.
